Rare Opportunity to own a Restaurant and Historic Downtown Building in Winslow AZ Olde Town Grill is a fully functional Restaurant located in the Heart of Winslow on Historic Rt 66. It serves lunch and dinner with a full bar and offers catering. It has quickly become a local favorite with fresh homemade ingredients and craft cocktails. More than 100,000 tourist visit Winslow yearly and have also discovered Olde Town Grill giving it 4.5 stars on Trip Advisor. Opening in 2021 it has endured Covid restrictions and closures and income is forecasted to increase for 2023.
The building was the original Winslow Post Office built in 1910 and served in that fashion until the new Post Office was built in 1935. After that it became the Quality Bakery for many years. It has been a Bakery, Diner, Bar, and until recent the town newspaper known as “The Scoop”. The building remains in the Historic Registry proudly located on historic Route 66 and just steps from the famous corner in Winslow mentioned in the song “Take it Easy” sung by the Eagles.
It was important for the owners to restore the building to as original as possible. Attention to detail was the front entrance. Top quality mahogany and new glass with mahogany sashes that would be of the same era as the original windows were used. The single small door was replaced with a 8 foot mahogany double door entry meeting ADA requirements with custom trim. The colors to be used throughout was decided cream, black, mahogany, and copper. Goose neck lighting outside, door trim lights, and a black and copper tuxedo style sign finishes the classic 1920’s look.
The look was carried inside with some exposed brick, which was made by the brick companies in Winslow. Also, used more mahogany on the front wall as well as on the classic looking bar with cement top that looks like it was original to the building. During construction while removing the drop ceiling in the dining area the original skylight was discovered. It was emphasized by adding copper ceiling tiles and recessed lighting to make it a talking point. Tongue and groove ceiling planks were used in that same tradition as in the past. The restrooms are completely new, meeting ADA requirements. Both restrooms are unisex with custom tile and brass floor drains to complete the 1920’s look.
